Oh New Jersey, how you get such a bad rep! From the Real Housewives of NJ (let’s be real, the other Real Housewives don’t come close to topping NJ drama) to the Jersey Shore (GTL anyone?).
Although us non New Jerseyans love to make fun of Jersey, the state still has a lot to offer. Over the holiday I got to explore and photograph one of Jersey’s most charming cities, Hoboken. Here are some of the top places to check out to in Hoboken.
- Hoboken Pier – The view from the Pier is breathtaking. You have a rare view of one of the greatest cities in the world (I might be a bit bias here, as I do have a sweet spot for NYC)! I’ve been to NYC a few times before, but seeing NYC from the Hoboken Pier gave me a new sense of awe for the city.
- Little City Books – I love checking out bookstores in every city I go to, not only because I’m a book nerd, but because they give you a connection to the city. I love finding the local writers section and seeing their city through their stories.
- Shop Local – When I go to a new city I try to find something I can only buy there. I like to get away from the touristy shops so I can check out local artists and get a deeper appreciation for the city. A few of the local Hoboken shops I recommend are Dear Hannah, Hudson Paperie, and Tunes. The Washington General Store is supposed to be great too, but it was closed when I was there (maybe next time!).
- Frankie and Ava’s Italian Eatery – If you’re looking for a quick bite check out Frankie and Ava’s! I’m still thinking about how delicious the pizza was!
